The coup attempt last week almost completely suppressed. Some fighting continues in the southern suburbs of the capital. Both sides of this conflict are aided by foreign troops. The coup was aided by mercenaries from Rwanda and Uganda. The government has received troops and arms from Chad and Libya. While the Central African Republic is a poor nation, it does possess diamond fields and tribal rivalries.
