More fighting has been reported between the Orma and Pokoma. On December 6, Kenyan police reported 40 people died in a series of clashes between the two ethnic groups. A subsequent report said three fights occurred December 6. In the first clash, four villages were raided (Chewani, Milalalu, Mwanza and Ng'ombeni) and nineteen people were killed. 20 died in another fight in the same area. One man (who was guarding several burnt-out houses) was shot to death in the village of Galole. The official death toll in these Pastoralist versus agriculturalist clashes is 131 people killed since January 2001.
