A battle between government and warlord forces left 19 people dead and 28 wounded in the south. SRRC (Somali Reconciliation and Restoration Council), a coalition of warlords who oppose the new government, is opposing government attempts to extend government control. The new government today received the recognition of Eritrea. However, the only other recognition comes from the United Nations, the Arab League, and east Africa's Intergovernmental Authority on Development.
