April 15, 2007: All train service in the Moslem south, has been halted. This is because a passenger train was hit by gunfire yesterday. Meanwhile, violence in the south has increased, with terror attacks more than doubling in the last week. The police are killing and capturing more of the terrorists as a result. But civilians are becoming more indignant over the increased violence.

April 10, 2007: The government is trying to stem anti-government talk on the Internet by ordering Thai chat rooms and message boards closed, because of insulting remarks made about the king. There is growing opposition to the military junta running the government. People are also aware that the king approved the removal of popular prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra last September. Thaksin was less popular in urban areas and among the middle class. This included the military, which agreed to overthrow Thaksin and hold new elections.

April 9, 2007: Violence in the south is increasing, and now there are a lot more attacks against Moslems as well. Some of these are intended to terrorize Moslems into not helping the governments, but others appear to be retaliation for attacks on Buddhists.

April 4, 2007: The army is recruiting women for counter-terrorism duty in the south. This is because the largely Moslem population tolerates terrorists disguising themselves in womens Islamic clothing (a burqa, which covers everything). Female soldiers can check burqa to make sure there's a woman inside.

April 3, 2007: In the south, Islamic terrorists attacked a group of police, leaving five dead, including three policemen and two terrorists.
