The National Transportation Safety Board has issued its final report on the crash of Egypt Air 990, saying there is no need for a public hearing as it is clear that the plane was deliberately crashed by a suicidal copilot. The Egyptians disagree, claiming that the possibility of an elevator failure cannot be ruled out. The FAA has issued a directive to check the rivets in the elevator assembly as three companies operating Boeing 767s have found failed rivets.--Stephen V
