The Canadian Army will, for the first time, turn to large-scale civilian contracts to support troops in the field. The 1,600 troops in Bosnia will be supported by civilians who cook, haul and manage supplies, maintain vehicles and equipment, and maintain the housing. This will allow the soldiers to expand their peacekeeping duties as other nations reduce the size of their contingents.--Stephen V Cole
