The US Army wants to buy a helicopter-mounted radar able to track individual soldiers and vehicles under trees, artillery shells and rockets, and slow-flying aircraft. They expect to pick two contractors for a definition project, then select one of them to build a prototype. The entire project should take 41 months, after which production could begin.--Stephen V Cole
