Iran is expected to test its new Kosar multi-stage missile with a range of up to 4,250km within a few months. This missile uses the Russian RD-216 booster (from the ancient SS-5 missile), which could not likely have reached Iran without the consent of the Russian government. --Stephen V Cole

The Clinton Administration is considering a plan to borrow $550 million from the National Missile Defense project to fund other missile defense programs. Republicans in the House are determined to block the move since it would mean delaying key hardware purchases.--Stephen V Cole
