Surface Forces: Iranian Ghaem Class Patrol Boats

Archives

August 8, 2024: This is one of many patrol boat designs developed for the Iranian IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) Navy, although some were exported to IRGC allies in Syria. These boats were built in the 1990s for coastal patrol duties. Only a few dozen Ghaem Class boats were built and all are still in service. These boats displace 61 tons and are 18.7 meters long. They are powered by two diesel engines and have a top speed of 32 kilometers an hour. There is a search radar and GPS navigation installed. The crew of ten operates two 7.62mm machine-guns and one 20mm autocannon.
