In a rare event, the army has arrested 57 members of the AUC in the southwest. Those arrested were accused of killing 40 suspected leftist supporters earlier in the month. It remains to be seen if those arrested are ever punished. Meanwhile, the US says it has proof that FARC is involved in the drug business. The other leftist rebel group, has many members involved in drugs, but not the organization itself.
