Indonesia: August 2, 2000


 In Ambon, the provincial capital of the Malukus, gunfire and  bomb explosions were heard throughout the day and night. At least four people were injured. Up in the mountains, some two dozen bodies were found. The victims were largely Christians chased out of their villages by Moslem militias.
