Indonesia plans to reduce the authorized strength of its Kopassus Special Forces units from 7,000 to 5,000. While the actual strength of Kopassus has never been revealed, no one believes it ever reached the authorized strength and the new authorization of 5,000 is probably very close to the actual strength. The unit will be reorganized into two combat groups, an intelligence group, a special operations group, a training establishment (replacing the current Group III), and a counter-terrorist detachment (replacing the current Group V).--Stephen V Cole
