Iran: April 19, 2001

Archives

Iran has displayed its locally-designed and built Shahed-274 utility helicopter. The design can carry five people a maximum of 620 kilometers. Maximum speed is 180 km/hr (97 knots or 112 mph), and maximum ceiling is 5,200m. Iran's military has ordered 20 of these aircraft for delivery by 2004 and regards the Shahed-274 as a great step toward self-sufficiency.--Stephen V Cole
