Iran: September 14, 2001


In the capital, a minute of silence was observed, in memory of those killed in the September 11 attacks. The game was a world cup qualifying match. Iran played a scoreless tie against Bahrain. Later in the day, 200 young people held a candle lit vigil in memory of those who died in the September 11 attack. Meanwhile, the army fired five missiles against an Iranian rebel base in Iraq, just outside of Baghdad.
