After a lengthily court proceeding, including extensive testimony by American intelligence officials, a US federal judge found that Iran was responsible for the 1983 bombing of a US Marine barracks in Beirut that left 241 Marines dead. Some of the dead Marines relatives had sued Iran for damages.
