Al Qaeda's second in command, Egyptian Ayman al-Zawahiri, is reported as under arrest in Iran. Al-Zawahiri was formerly head of a large terrorist organization in Egypt, but was run out of the country in the 1980s by an anti-terrorism campaign. The Iranian government has not confirmed this.
