 The courts continues to close media outlets that disagree with the Islamic conservatism of the religious leadership in Iran. Over a hundred  newspapers and magazines have been closed since 2000, and 27 journalists are currently in prison. Satellite TV broadcasts are jammed and attempts are made to filter what Iranians can see on the Internet.
