The government threatened to expel the British ambassador because of the recent arrest, in Britain, of a former Iranian diplomat (who was attending graduate school there) for complicity in a fatal terrorist attack against Argentinean Jews in 1994. Iranian Islamic conservatives have long been suspected of supporting terror attacks overseas.
