Two Iraqi UN diplomats have defected in New York. This should prove interesting, as Iraq's policy is that the family members in Iraq suffer if any officials overseas defect. So those defecting usually have strong reasons for doing so. The Iraqi leadership is well taken care of, so the reasons for defecting are usually political. Either the defectors were plotting against Saddam, or fear that Saddam suspects they were.
