In Christian Georgia, the breakaway Moslem regions of  South Ossetia and Abkhazia have agreed to resist any al Qaeda attempts to set up shop in their territory. They have little choice, as they are dependent on Russian support against Georgian attempts to end their independence. Some al Qaeda members who have fled the Pankisi Gorge in Georgia have ended up in  Abkhazia.
