A group of about fifty armed Chechens who moved out of Georgia into Dagestan on December 16 has been hunted down and destroyed. Most (36) of the Chechens were killed, a three were taken alive. The group killed nine border guards and civilians during their raid. Russia used several groups of commandoes to hunt down the Chechens.
