Russia's defense export group FIG has carried out successful tests of upgraded SA-3A Goa anti-aircraft missiles it is converting for Egypt. The upgrade includes replacing the old electronics with new digital equipment. The equipment is being mounted on a new 6x6 truck (two missiles per truck). (The original four-missile launchers were towed and required 90 minutes to go into action. The new truck-mounted version can move more quickly and can go into action in 30 minutes.) Russia's FIG will convert 50 old towed four-missile launchers into 100 new truck-mounted two-missile launchers.--Stephen V Cole
