Britain is surveying improved ammunition for its towed L118 light 105mm howitzers. While Britain had planned to change to the XM777 towed 155mm howitzer, it has decided to keep some L118s for those missions where the XM777 is too heavy or difficult to deploy. The British are looking for improved lethality but will also consider shells that offer extended range. --Stephen V Cole
