The Turkish Army has received the first six of what could be hundreds of towed 155mm (52 caliber) howitzers designated as Panther. This is the first howitzer designed by the Turks, although they acknowledge help from Singapore Technologies. The weapon can reach 40km, far beyond the 14.6km range of the current weapon (the 155mm towed US-built M114 howitzer). Another 18 howitzers are under production; the total that the Turks will buy is not known and may depend on available funds.--Stephen V Cole
