After months of recruiting, the U.S. Marine Corps has begun training its new commando unit. The 86 marines (including five navy corpsmen) are all experienced Force Recon members and will undergo ten months of training before going through some joint exercises with Navy SEALs next Spring. This will be a test to see if the Marines can make themselves useful by working with SEALs. The Navy was not enthusiastic about the Marines getting into the commando business, because the United States already has two commando forces (SEALs and the Army Delta Force.) But the Marines insisted that they can bring something unique to the table, and now they have a chance to prove it.
