Ryan, Bell, and Sikorsky are all competing for a new Navy program to produce a remotely-controlled helicopter for anti-submarine and other strike missions from Navy warships. A decision is to be made by 1 March. The selected aircraft must carry a 200-pound war load on a five-hour mission, and must be able to operate 150 miles from the controlling warship.--Stephen V Cole
