The U.S. Navy is reducing the number of combat aircraft it has in service. Marine Corps F/A-18 squadrons will be attached to carrier air wings. The number of aircraft in each of its carrier air wing squadrons will be reduced from 12 to 10. This will allow the Navy Reserve to decommission two F/A 18 squadrons, one Navy and one Marine.
