Surface Forces: Swedish Harpoon Lands in Poland

Archives

October13, 2006: Poland is buying Swedish RBS15 anti-ship missiles for the three Orkan class corvettes it is refurbishing. The Orkans belonged to the former East Germany, and were obtained cheaply after the two Germanies united. The RBS15 is similar to the U.S. Harpoon, but heavier (1,800 pounds, compared to 1,600), and has slightly less range (200 kilometers compared to 224 for the latest version of Harpoon.)
