Japan and the US held by the biannual Keen Sword wargames on 2-18 November. The exercise included 21,400 personnel, 20 ships, and 300 aircraft. For the first time in the Keen Sword series, the scenario included a disaster relief mission with the US and Japanese naval ships supporting Japanese civil authorities.--Stephen V Cole
