Northern Alliance leader Ahmad Masood was reported to be awake after being unconscious for 36 hours. Masood's staff say he will recover from his injuries. Earlier reports indicated that Masood had died of his injuries. He is reported to be in a hospital in Dushanbe, the capital of neighboring Tajikistan. However, there has been no independent confirmation that Masood is still alive.
