So far this year, a million Afghans have returned home from refugee camps. Another million are expected before the end of the year. Most (about 90 percent) are coming from Pakistan.

American and allied efforts to hunt down al Qaeda and Taliban in eastern Afghanistan are having some impact, as Pakistani troops arrest more foreigners trying to get out of Afghanistan. Pakistan is moving more troops to the border and covering more of the passes from Afghanistan into Pakistan.
