Afghanistan: November 14, 2002

Al Qaeda or Taliban continue to fire 107mm rockets at US bases. Supplies of these rockets continue to be found out in the hills. The rockets are very inaccurate and, despite over a four hundred fired at American troops in the past year, no Americans have been hurt. But some of the attacks are becoming more elaborate. Last week, an American base in the southeast had 15 rockets fired at it from different directions in a well coordinated attack. But the inaccurate 122mm rockets all missed. It's just a matter of time, however, before one of these rockets connects.

University students continue to protest living conditions. These protests, which have attracted several thousand participants each day, have continued for over a week because several (the exact number is in dispute) demonstrators have been killed by police.
