Taliban and al Qaeda members continue to try and kill Americans by getting bombs into American bases. So far they have failed, but eventually they will succeed. The government is trying to get the population mobilized against those who continue to practice random violence and warfare. This won't be easy, as violence and warfare have been considered popular Afghan pastimes for centuries.
