Taliban and al Qaeda attacks with AK-47s, RPGs, rockets and mortars have been dismal failures to date. So they are now trying remote controlled bombs. This technique has been used with success in Chechnya and Palestine, and is also working here, wounding American and Italian soldiers, and killing eight Afghan troops in attacks over the last few days. Such bombs require more preparation and more technology. This indicates that the Taliban are able to bring in trainers and equipment to build and deploy the bombs.
