Two CIA agents, both former special operations troops (one Special Forces, the other a SEAL) were ambushed and killed on the Pakistani border as they tracked down Taliban and al Qaeda members. The area, 230 kilometers south of the capital, is known to be a dangerous place because of the pro-Taliban population and closeness to Taliban bases in Pakistan. In the last two years, the CIA has lost four of its agents during Afghan operations.
