An army raid on a rebel camp 600 kilometers east of the capital left five soldiers dead and three wounded. The army has been able to advance into some remote mountain regions for the first time in years, because rebel strength has decreased so much that the rebels can no longer keep the army out. Now the army is attacking and destroying the rebel camps, which are often well fortified and defended. 

Also in the east, rebels kidnapped one militiaman and wounded another.
