 The 14 European hostages were finally released and flown home. All were in good shape. The Turaregs may, or may not, have been compensated for their efforts. The Turaregs pretty much control northern Mali, which is part of an arrangement that settled years of rebellious behavior by the tribes. The Turaregs played a critical role in completing the negotiations that got the Europeans released.
