BMDO (Ballistic Missile Defense Office) is asking Congress for another billion dollars to keep current projects going. These include Army and Navy ABM research. Of more immediate use, is $65 for three more Patriot PAC-3 missiles, a new version of the basic Patriot missile more able to stop short range ballistic missiles. At present, the Patriot PAC-2 is the only anti-ballistic missile the U.S. has.
