The Navy Theater Wide anti-missile system succeeded in hitting its target (an Aries ballistic missile body) on 25 Jan. The weapon, a Standard Missile-3 with a Lightweight Exo-Atmospheric Projectile, was fired by the cruiser Lake Erie. The Navy has been moving slowly on this system but expects to conduct two more tests this year. --Stephen V Cole
