The U.S. Navy is installing commercial type Automatic Identification Systems in all of its surface ships by the end of next year. This will provide navy commanders with a seagoing blue force tracker (the land based system the army system, using satellite communications, that tells army commanders where all suitably equipped army vehicles, aircraft and units are at all time.)
