Taliban and Northern Alliance commanders, in the spirit of Ramadan, have been exchanging prisoners. Some 350 have been swapped so far. This, and the Ramadan truce, have raised hopes that the Taliban and Northern Alliance might reach some sort of political resolution to their differences. Iran has been urging such a move.
