 British Royal Marine Commandos completed their final mission in eastern Afghanistan and are preparing to leave the country. The British marines will have spent four months in Afghanistan. Their operations found large quantities of weapons and munitions, but never encountered armed resistance. 

A Canadian infantry battalion is also leaving next month, to be replaced by a Romanian light infantry brigade (based outside Kandahar.)
