Turkey began an Aegean Sea military exercise (Sea Wolf 2002), the same exercises suspended on June 4. 14 frigates, nine subs, and assorted aircraft deployed on the exercise. Greece responded by summoning the Turkish ambassador in Athens and accusing Turkey of airspace violations near the island of Rhodes.
