On June 22 Greek special forces seized a freighter carrying 680 tons of explosives. Commandos boarded The Baltic Sky off western Greece (in the Ionian Sea). The ship had been sailing around for nearly six weeks. Greek intelligence sources said the cargo manifest indicated the TNT was destined for (quote) "a post office box in Khartoum that did not exist." The cargo included 8,000 detonators. On June 24 Greek officials said that it was possible the explosives were being shipped to an Al Qaeda front.
