Hungary has decided to lease 24 US F-16A fighters for $557 million and has canceled plans to upgrade its fleet of 28 MiG-29As. Under a separate $3.3 million maintenance contract, the Hungarians will keep the MiG-29As flying until the F-16s (and the special ground facilities for them) are available in 2004.--Stephen V Cole
