The Pentagon has given Boeing a $480 million order for 11,332 Joint Direct Attack Munitions, the 2,000-pound GPS-guided glide bomb that was the favorite weapon of the Afghan War. These are to be delivered from late this summer though October 2003. By the end of this contract, Boeing will have tripled its current production rate for this weapon.--Stephen V Cole
